About lipstick base
A
lipstick base is the foundational mixture used to make lipstick before adding pigments, fragrances, or other special ingredients. It typically contains a blend of waxes, oils, and emollients to provide structure, glide, and moisture.
Basic preparation
- Melt the waxes together using a double boiler.
- Add the oils and butters and mix until uniform.
- Remove from heat and add Vitamin E and any heat-sensitive ingredients.
- Mix in pigments (typically 815% depending on the desired color).
- Pour into lipstick molds and allow to cool completely.
